Centre Stage in Barrow: “La Bella and the Lost Chord of Ulanbataar” on Friday 29th March

This Centre Stage show is unashamed FUN from a cheery three-piece band with a vintage boys-own adventure style.

Thrill to a brilliantly entertaining lecture detailing how three dapper, but hapless chaps embark on a perilous adventure by boat, airship and jalopy across Europe and Asia in search of a mysterious and fantastical ancient treasure (and to revive their mediocre musical careers). It begins as a bumbling lecture promising 'rare artefacts' but swiftly descends into slapstick as the equipment comically fails and they must fall back on their musical skills to get them out of the soup. Expect Eighty Days Around the World crossed with James Bond crossed with Gardeners Question Time with mimes, charades, shadow puppetry, close harmony singing and musical interludes by large men playing big music on small instruments. La Bella Band are Kieran, Mark and Gary playing music from the last two centuries, providing vocal dexterity to supplement ukulele, guitar and cajón. Their repertoire includes well known songs from 1926 to the present day. The songs are fun and witty (think Flanders and Swann) and all their own material with ditties such as 'Yurts and Yaks (there's no turning back)' and 'Istanbul (Not Constantinople)' which you're sure to be humming all the way home. It's definitely a show with a twinkle in its eye, underpinned by a rattling good story. This musical cabaret will have audiences of all ages joining in the fun.
