About Us Archive

During the summer of 2012, BUSCA was particularly busy hosting first the Big Picnic in the Park (arranged by the Youth Action Group) to celebrate the Jubilee . We had the picnic inside Humphrey Perkins because of the bad weather. It was closely followed by  Barrowlympix to celebrate the Olympics. The weather was better and we were able to stay outside. In between those two was Barrow's Got Talent run by Barrow Panto Group .

Summer 2013  included an Olympic  Legacy  Barrowlympix II. Our Autumn events in 2013 included three ballroom dances (October, November and December), two Centre Stage events (professional theatre), a murder mystery in October and a street market and entertainment as part of the Big Switch-on of the Christmas Lights on Dec 7th. The Youth Theatre performed a fantastic Alice in Wonderland Junior Musical in November. The New Community Building Committee were very busy pursuing an ideal site for a village hall although, very sadly, the site is no longer available.

Early in 2014  we ran a Valentine Dance  followed by a Centre Stage production in March entitled Freddy Dare and the Ginger Robber. The Panto Group put on Mother Goose in March 2014. On May 20th 2014 we held an exciting Launch of the New BUSCA. It took the form of a Community Evening to showcase all the village organisations. The occasion marked a big change of status of BUSCA  to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (C.I.O.). With the new constitution we now ask people to become members for a token annual fee of £2.50.

The Twinning Group spent a memorable few days in Marans, France, Barrow’s Twinning partner.

By the end of the year we will have run further dances and organised a street market and street entertainments associated with the Parish Council Christmas Lights Switch-on
